Sculptural grace through devotion and movement
Odissi is one of India’s oldest classical dance forms, originating in the temples of Odisha. Rooted in the devotional practices of Maharis and later refined by Gotipua traditions, Odissi embodies spiritual storytelling through fluid movement, expressive abhinaya, and sculptural poses.
At Dhwani, we honor the traditional Odissi style while embracing thoughtful, modern pedagogy. Our teaching focuses on strong technique, expressive depth, and cultural understanding, allowing students to connect deeply with the spiritual and artistic essence of Odissi.
Our curriculum includes chauka and tribhangi postures, basic and advanced footwork, mudras, abhinaya, pallavis, and expressive dance items inspired by Odissi’s lyrical and devotional repertoire.
